As in any other sports, jet skiing has rules and regulations guiding the sport. Though often unwritten, respecting these rules will help ensure that you have a memorable jet skiing session without making life uncomfortable for other water users.
The right of Way: This is a long-time safety rule applied not only to cars on the road but also to boats, and other watercraft including jet skis. This rule simply has to do with allowing other watercraft; especially commercial boats the right to go before you, whenever you come across them during your ride. Although it is not necessarily a rule, it is a way to avoid collision and accident.
Be vigilant: Whether you are riding in the early hours of the morning or late afternoon, there is bound to be other water users. It is important to keep this in mind. Always look out for other water users to avoid a collision. Keep the speed at a controllable limit and avoid speeding in areas with high human traffic. In addition, make sure you take extra care when crossing wakes
No-Wake Zones: If you want to avoid tickets, make sure that you follow no-wake rules. The water body is massive and there is plenty of space to have fun and speed without constituting a nuisance or damaging other people’s boats.
Safety Gear: To ensure maximum safety, make sure that all safety precautions are taking seriously. Wear the right gear – a swimsuit, helmet (if necessary), and gloves. In addition, a safety lanyard, and the whistle should be in place in case of an emergency. Never mount a jet ski without making sure that you have the aforementioned gears in place.
Alcohol/Intoxicants: Drinking and driving is a serious crime in Dubai. So, it is important that you avoid taking any kind of alcohol or intoxicant prior to mounting a jet ski. Staying sober is a sure way to guarantee your safety and that of other water users.
