Jetskiing is indeed an exhilarating watersport on its own, even if it’s just gliding over the surface of the water. But if you’re looking to add some drama and thrill for a fantastic jetskiing experience – then techniques play a great role.
Even if you’re not a pro at doing four or even five backflips in a row, you can always start getting there by mastering some simple techniques. Here we have put down 3 simple techniques anyone, be it beginners or those not been riding for years, can try for a fantastic jetskiing experience.
Ride while standing
Riding while standing is simple for those who opted for a stand-up model in their first ride. But if you’re a person who uses a sit-down model, then riding while standing takes some practice. However, it is one of the simplest techniques to catch up easily and get a wholesome experience.
In a sit-down model, most of the jetski riding requires you to be out of the seat. To jetski while standing, you need to use your feet, ankles, knees, legs, core, and upper body to maintain stability.
Riding while standing makes a lot of muscles work together, improving your energy and excitement levels throughout the jetski ride. Also, as you are standing while riding, it gives you a whole better view of the ocean, the rough waves, and all the surrounding landmarks – which surely goes a long way in taking your jetskiing experience to a whole new level.
Donuts
Donuts is another dizzying yet fun technique to boost your jetskiing experience. With this technique, just like in cars, you will stay in a place and keep rotating without going anywhere. This technique is often used in a stand-up model.
For this technique, you have to turn your handlebars in either direction and lean heavily in the same direction. Try to take most or all of the weight off from the opposite foot. Putting all of your weight on one side helps you get a sharper donut with a smaller radius.
You may also have to stand more towards the back, or else the bow of the jetski will be going under the surface.
Wake jumping
Wake jumping is different from riding on a smooth or slightly choppy surface. To try this technique, you have to know what it’s like going up and down a few feet and be comfortable with it. Before wake jumping, it’s always best to ride over the wake.
For this technique, you will have to ride towards the wake in the same direction and speed to get air. Then, lean back aggressively so that the resulting momentum will easily take the jetski upwards – allowing you to wake jump.
When you’re landing back, make sure you let yourself loose, be responsive and bend your knees appropriately like you would when jumping down from anywhere. If you keep your body stiff, the landing impact can be tough and can cause leg or even spinal injuries.
