One benefit you get when living in Dubai is the opportunity to enjoy your favorite watersport irrespective of the season of the year.
However, as it is in any other part of the world, summer remains the best time to ride a jet ski. But winter in Dubai is not extremely cold, also making it conducive for jet ski lovers to engage in the sport during the relatively colder season.
That notwithstanding, a lot of jet ski enthusiasts still prefer to pack their personal watercraft (PWC) during the winter period.
If you have packed your jet ski during the winter but hoping to unveil it once it’s winter, these tips will help get your watercraft ready.
Drain the Fuel Tank and Refill with Fresh One
If you are taking your personal watercraft out to the water after several months of winterization, then it’s important to remove the fuel and oil from the tank and refill with fresh fluids. This will help to unclog any clogged part(s).
For a two-stroke engine, you will have to pre-mix the fuel with oil before pouring into the tank but for a four-stroke engine jet ski, make sure you pour the fuel and oil in the appropriate components.
If you are not very sure about how to do it, you can hire a jet ski maintenance professional to help you out.
Lubricate the Movable Parts
Proper lubrication will help to ensure that all the movable parts of your jet ski function smoothly. So before putting your jet ski to use after the winter break, make sure that all bearings are well greased and sealed.
Lubricating the moving parts of your watercraft will also help to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the engine and causing any kind of damage.
Carry Out a General Cleaning
If you winterized and packed your jet ski throughout the cold season, then it must have accumulated some dust and even cobwebs. So a general cleaning should be the first thing you should do upon bringing it out in the summer. Wipe the outer parts of the jet ski, remove clouds of dust, sands, and cobwebs from the external and internal parts, including the exhaust pipe.
After that, check the carburetor and make sure that there is no sand or dust in it. If you fail to do this, the sand may enter your engine and cause some damage. Also, make sure that your spark plug isn’t rusted. If it is, which is most likely, make sure to replace it with a new one.
Lastly, check the fuel line and make sure that there is no crack or leakage. If you notice any cracks or any worn out part, be sure to replace it before taking your jet ski out to the ocean.
Once you have ticked all the checklists, you can go ahead and enjoy your jet ski throughout the summer.
